I started late.

I'm Jil, 55. I have a full-time job, a young son, and English isn't my first language. I live on a small island in the Indian Ocean.

Every reason to believe the internet wasn't for someone like me, and for a long time I believed it.

Then I started writing on X. For two years, almost nobody read it. I posted before work, during breaks, after my son went to bed. Ninety minutes a day, most days.

In April 2025, everything changed. My account went from 4,000 to 21,600 followers in one week. Over 17,000 of them came in a single day. What looked like overnight luck was two years of showing up, finally compounding.

That's what I write about now.

Starting isn't about the year you were born or the hours you have spare. It's a decision. I made mine late, and it still worked. Yours can too.
